In my career so far, I’m grateful to have achieved a number of things, including being named a pioneer of the nation by HM The Queen; having my portrait hung in the National Portrait Gallery; serving on a number of Government councils and bodies, and receiving an honorary doctorate in philosophy.
I’ve experienced outstanding success in my business career and I’ve seen some incredibly tough times too. I know what it’s like to enjoy the success of a business and the pain of trying to rescue it.
Today I manage several businesses and I am a serial investor in a number of start up and high growth businesses. Concentrating my efforts on promoting British Entrepreneurship wherever and whenever I can, I yearn to learn from more experienced entrepreneurs and idolize the business acumen and ethical values instilled in me by my parents.
I am a proud British Sikh. My faith is what drives me and makes me stronger. My religion has taught me many things that I try to implement into my businesses: compassion and tolerance; seeing God and good in others; standing up for righteousness and defending myself and others against injustice.
On this website I want to share the things I’ve learnt on my journey. I want to inspire other young entrepreneurs and hopefully help them realise that you need to take every opportunity that comes your way, and believe in yourself and your ideas without fear of failure. We all succeed and fail on our journey growing a business; I want to inspire entrepreneurs not to give up on their ideas even in the face of great difficulties.
No one has the right to tell you what to do or not. Everyone is entitled to give their opinion. Just make sure you seek opinions of those that have the relevant experience or intellect and have no vested interest in the outcome. Choosing these people is possibly the most important thing in business.
My Story
The business milestones
Living in the present
2018
As the CEO of Isher Capital and alldayPA.com I have the ability to work with and on a variety of different businesses each day. alldayPA is a passion of mine that I founded 19 years ago and Isher Capital is an investment company that allows me to work with Entrepreneurs and fast growing businesses.
Acquisition
2017
The acquisition of new businesses and the growth of the overall Group saw these 2 years as being the most successful financially yet for me but made me realise that in business the journey is always greater than the destination. Ended the year on realising that every human is being is equal and we should not let religion, colour, culture, or wealth discriminate us as all one race, the human race.
Trust
2015
2015
The year that taught me to always expect the unexpected. Never to trust anyone and always to have faith in God. Also made me realise that friendship and business are to be always be kept apart. When money is brought into a relationship it dilutes and breaks any bond however strong.
Business park acquisition
2014
A milestone year when Isher Capital launched our first Business Park acquisition with the opening of Isher Business Park in Manchester and the expansion of our alldayPA business. It took 10 years bring the business properly back on course from the dark days of 2004 through to 2007.
Building
2013
Focused all the efforts on not being swayed by anything but my ambition to prove the doubters wrong and kept my faith in God. Kept sincere to my work and on building alldayPA, Isher Capital, and our Call Centre Group.
Launched Isher Capital
2010
Throughout this time I did not lose my seat on the alldayPA board and focused on growing the company to the multimillion pound success it is today, and in 2010 I launched Isher Capital. It was also both disheartening but satisfying to learn later that others, including judges, believed the decision served against me in my case was in fact unlawful and wrong.
Ups and downs
2004
The strongest year of my career but so rapid was my rise and so great the hysteria that, looking back, the only possible way was down. By early 2005 my fortunes had changed dramatically. Looking back this fall was inevitable due to some of the mistakes that had been made. I ignored correct advice and chose to take incorrect advice. I restructured and refocused alldayPA and began fighting a court case against a major bank. I quickly realised you cannot easily fight such a large institution. I lost the case and was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2007 and was discharged in 2008. I was discharged from my bankruptcy swiftly and without any problems. Despite the testing period I learned so much from this very difficult time. These years are my inspiration today.
Honoured by HM The Queen
2003
I was honoured by HM The Queen at Buckingham Palace and honoured by the World Economic Forum at Davos as a Global Leader of Tomorrow. MIT Boston Technology Review Magazine gave me their Innovator Accolade and I had my portrait hung in the National Portrait Gallery in London.
Entrepreneur of the Year awards
2002
I was invited by Prime Minister Tony Blair to serve on a Government Advisory Panel and a Government Task Force. I was also a Founding Member of Government's Small Business Council and appointed by the Prime Minister Government as an Ambassador for Entrepreneurship. For three years running I won the Entrepreneur of The Year Award and in 2002 I was named Asian Entrepreneur of the Year at a ceremony attended by Prince Charles.
'British Bill Gates'
2000
At age 25, I was grateful to be called me the 'British Bill Gates' by The Sunday Times and have my net worth estimated to be £80 million by the Mail on Sunday's Rich Report. It was a great year for me and an honour to have been acknowledged.
Sold the company and founded alldayPA
1999
I sold the company and founded alldayPA. It filled a gap in the market for high-quality UK-based call handling and telephone answering services. Within two years, alldayPA had signed deals with T-Mobile and MBNA. In 2002 Forbes Magazine valued alldayPA at more than £90m and later at over $150m by a private equity fund.
Founded Miss Attitude
1995
At the age of 19, I founded Miss Attitude, a fashion accessories retail chain using the £4,000 I had saved. My first store was in a tiny kiosk in the Arndale Centre in Manchester. It was a great idea: sell girls accessories and make-up together in one shop. Today, many successful stores use this business model, but at the time it was a unique and unusual idea. The chain grew rapidly and by 1999, there was a chain of Miss Attitude stores across the UK.
One of the UK’s leading telephone answering services provider. Part of the Call Centre Group.
Founder/CEO Isher Capital
